Kenzie, Ed, Mom and Dad toured the US Capital. Here they are standing on the star that designates the center of the Capital Building.
We found the Kansas state seal on the ceiling at The Willard Hotel!
Kenzie, Eddie, Mom & Dad enjoyed the food in DC.
Kenzie cooled off in the fountain. While in DC record high temperature of 104 degrees. Just like home....
The Willard hall that allowed for lots of "people watching".
While the rest of the family was eating and people watching, I was in meetings at the Eisenhower Executive building (not many people are allowed inside).
Here is an inside look at one of the rooms inside - beautiful but very few get to see! Lots of secret service!
Picture of the Washington Monument at night
as well as the White House! We walked a lot!!
Our last day in DC! I had one day to explore. Ed and Kenz were excited!!
We went to the Air and Space Museum and American History Museum!
Walked around the Art Museum!
Had snacks!
In the evening, we decided on a nighttime monument tour! This is our guide...
We saw several of the monuments! The one below is the WWII monument. Each state has it's own pillar. We ran out of time and had to settle for Arkansas, but figured out a way to make it work! Only careful readers will know!!
Lincoln Monument was one of my favorites!
But the weather made headlines! Here is a pic of the lightening outside our hotel! Successful vacation, but looking forward to our Beach Vacation with the whole family later this month!!

Honored to be a Teacher
On June 10, 2012, I was named the Kansas Mathematics Awardee for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching by President Obama.
Ed, Kenz, and I traveled to Washington DC on an expense paid trip! I had 3 days of professional development, networking, EATING, and awards ceremonies!
Kenzie and Ed toured (somewhat) and people watched in the Willard Hotel.
Mom and Dad joined us for 2 of the days! It was an experience I'll never forget!!
